Dr. Nam Hoang Nguyen is an environmental economic expert and policy adviser of the Institute of Strategy and Policy on Natural Resources and Environment (ISPONRE) Vietnam. He is advising on economic valuation, cost-benefit analysis, economics of renewable energy, payment for environmental services (PES), climate change response policies and practices. Dr. Nam implements research and analyses on climate change adaptation and mitigation of greenhouse-gas emission (especially in the energy and industry sectors), provides trainings to government officials and advises the Government. In addition, he is a visiting lecturer in National Economics University and Hanoi University of Natural Resources and Environment. Dr. Nam also acts as coordinator for several national and international projects in Vietnam and in the Philippines.

Ms. Nguy Thi Khanh is currently founder and Executive Director of Green Innovation and Development Centre (GreenID) which is working to promote sustainable energy development, good water and air governance and green development. She is also the chair of Vietnam Sustainable Energy Alliance which works to advocate for sustainable energy development in Vietnam. She has 19 years of experience in integrated community development, network building and advocacy for better Water, Air Governance and Sustainable energy development in Vietnam and the Mekong region. Since 2012, she has led GreenID to advocate for increasing Renewable energy, energy efficiency, reducing coal power and clean Air in Vietnam. She graduated from the Institute of International Relations in Ha Noi, Vietnam with a Bachelor’s degree in Politics and Diplomacy. She hold a number of certificate from international training courses on energy, water and clean environment.

Mr. Do has over 10 years of energy sector experience focusing on renewable energy, energy efficiency, and climate change. As Clean Energy Advisor in the U.S Agency for International Development for the past three years, he led $20 million clean energy program portfolios including renewable energy and energy efficiency. Under his leadership, the USAID's clean energy technical assistance has been contributing to the low emission growth of the energy sector and contributing to sustainable urbanization of Vietnam. His project involvement covered energy policy, power market reform, renewable project development and financing, green building, and other climate change mitigation projects. Mr. Do holds a Master of Renewable Energy from Germany's Oldenburg University, a Bachelor of Energy Economics from Hanoi University of Science and Technology.

Dr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Senior Energy Economist, is Director of RE center of the Vietnam Institute of Energy, a primary research and consulting institution on energy sector. He is one of the leading experts of national studies-projects such as “Master plan of Renewable energy development in Vietnam up to 2025”, “Incentive Mechanisms for Renewable Energy development”, as well as “Power Development Plan VII for Vietnam, period 2011-2015 with outlook to 2025”. Prior to joining the Institute of Energy, he held a post of Director of Power system studies and Senior Energy Economist with Innovation Energie Développement (IED), a French consultancy and engineering firm, specialized in sustainable energy projects essentially in Asia, Africa and Europe. Tuan Nguyen is and has been directly involved in different projects, covering the areas of policy regulatory analysis, feasibility and planning studies, technical assistance, and training. His area of expertise lies in power system planning (generation, transmission and power pool), institutional and financial aspects of energy projects, and rural electrification as well as Renewable Energy development issues in Africa, in Asia, in Europe. He accumulated a good expertise on simulation and modelling of the World Energy System when he was with CNRS (French National Scientific Research Centre) with number of publications and conference papers.

RAINER BROHM /// RB RENEWABLE ENERGY CONSULTING
Rainer Brohm has 15 years experience in the environmental and renewable energy sector with a strong focus on policy consulting and market research. He started his carrier as a research fellow at the Potsdam-Institute of Climate Impact Research in the early 2000’s with a focus on global environmental governance and related questions of national policy implementation. At the same time he started policy consulting for different members of the German and European Parliament. In this context he had the chance to work on the design and further implementation of the German Renewable Energy Act (EEG). From 2007 until 2014 Mr. Brohm worked for the German Solar Industry Association (BSW-Solar) heading their Governmental Relations and International Affairs department. In this function he developed lobbying and communication strategies as well as industry roadmaps and business model guidelines for the fast growing solar sector in Germany. Further than that, he developed and implemented international policy consulting projects in different world regions in cooperation with national, regional and multilateral development organizations.
In 2014 Mr. Brohm established his own consultancy in Southeast Asia. Based in Hanoi his consulting work mainly focuses on the development of beneficial legal and administrational framework conditions for renewable energies as well as market research in Vietnam and other countries of the region. In 2015 he has conducted an extensive study on the Vietnamese solar market on behalf of the German Development Corporation (GIZ) and the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT). Currently he is exploring investment opportunities for Solar PV rooftop applications in the Vietnamese commercial and industrial sector on behalf of the German Ministry of Economics and Energy. Mr. Brohm studied political science, international relations and business administration in Berlin, Hagen and Amsterdam.

Mike Tran is a serial entrepreneur and a passionate creative technologist with focus in security, finance and renewable energy technology. He has over 2 years of experience in Vietnam’s renewable energy sector with strong focus on market research, match making (partnership/acquisition deal), local financing and end-to-end consultant service to secure project permits (investment licensing, land permit, construction permits, operation permit, PPA). Prior to Sol Ampere, he has over 14 years of experience developing security and finance software applications. He founded Filestring Inc in 2009, a Silicon Valley start-up focused in secure file sharing software application for businesses and individuals. He later founded Snapbuck Inc in 2014, a mobile advertisement platform focusing in large data analysis utilizing geo-tag and photos data. In 2015, he pivoted and focused full-time in the renewable energy sector as an independent consultant for a Vietnamese conglomerate. He lead their effort to conduct extensive study on the Vietnamese solar market, devise a development plan and build a renewable energy team to explore investment opportunities for a 250 MW solar PV farm. He has since served many local developers and foreign investors (Germany, Spain, UK) in multiple disciplines from helping to secure new project permits (investment licensing, land permit, construction permit, operation permit), local financing, and match making for partnership and acquisition deal. Mike studied computer engineering at Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY.

Ms Monika Bieri got her bachelor degree of economics in 1999 at the University of Applied Science in Business Administration in Zurich, Switzerland and finished the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) exams in 2003. She has a 14 years back-ground as a financial analyst with UBS AG, Zurich. During 2004-2013 she was responsible for covering the European power sector within the fixed income team at UBS Global Asset Management. This enabled her getting a wide experience in providing investment recommendations to portfolio managers for water, gas and electricity companies. In order to enhance her finance knowledge with renewable energies in more detail, Monika completed the executive programme ‘Diploma of Advanced Studies in Renewable Energy Management (REM-HSG)’ at the University of St. Gallen in March-2013. She joined SERIS in 2014 as a research associate within the Solar Energy System cluster to enhance the team with her utility and finance background. Her expertise is in economic viability assessments of renewable energy applications and fundamental power market analysis including future power price scenario modelling.

Thomas Jakobsen has over 12 years of experience in Indochina, focused on renewable energy. He is the Managing Director Renewable Energy, at Saigon Asset Management, and is responsible for direct investments and advisory services in the renewable energy sector. From 2009 to 2013, Mr. Jakobsen was Investment Director in Anpha Capital, originating and analyzing potential investments, in Renewable Energy, Real Estate and Infrastructure projects; advising the potential investment companies/projects on Financial Structuring and Corporate Finance and performing due diligence on potential investments. In 2007 Mr. Jakobsen co-founded Gate To Asia, providing investment consulting for Renewable Energy and Environmental projects in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos. Additionally, activities included finding suitable technology suppliers for Renewable Energy and Environmental projects, as well as conducting Environmental, Social & Governance assessments of projects for foreign investors. Prior to that Mr. Jakobsen held General Management and Financial Management positions in industrial companies in Europe and Asia. Mr. Jakobsen holds a M.Sc. in Economics and Business Administration from University of Aarhus in Denmark, including six months at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in Belgium.

Yasushi has 20 years of experience in water and energy sectors globally as engineer and investment professional. Prior to joining Armstrong Asset Management, he closed investments in Asia totalling USD 240 million as the Business Development Director for Asia (2004-2010) at the Dalkia Group, the energy division of Veolia Environnement, and as the Investment Director (2010-2013) at Swiss-Asia Financial Services Pte Ltd. At Dalkia, he also spearheaded business development in Asia in the field of energy efficiency and CDM. Yasushi was previously based in Paris heading the technical department of Degrémont, the water treatment division of Suez Environnement, where he supervised global technical support team for EPC and O&M businesses. He combines a strong technical background with hands-on experience in origination, development, execution and operation of energy projects in Asia. He holds a BSc and MEng degree in Urban & Environmental Engineering from the University of Tokyo and an MBA from INSEAD.
