Webinar Recordings /// PV for distributed generation, a winning case?

On September 21, Solarplaza organizes its second complimentary webinar  on the Vietnamese PV market. With an in-depth look at the opportunities PV holds for embedded generation schemes.

Vietnam has been making headlines since the release of its FITs. Developers and investors are awaiting the final PPA circular in eager anticipation.
However, with the initial PPA considered less bankable than preferred, the distributed generation market can offer an opportunity to get a foothold in Vietnam. Especially (international) commercial and industrial power consumers show a growing interest into PV solutions, be it for CSR commitments, securing energy price and supply, or as a lucrative investment.

Rainer Brohm will present on different schemes that can work in the Vietnamese market.

  • GIZ project studies for rooftop PV, their modeling and business cases
  • Status update on net metering policy
  • Potential business models for C&I off-takers in Vietnam
Rainer Brohm has 15 years experience in the environmental and renewable energy sector with a strong focus on policy consulting and market research. He started his carrier as a research fellow at the Potsdam-Institute of Climate Impact Research in the early 2000’s with a focus on global environmental governance and related questions of national policy implementation. At the same time he started policy consulting for different members of the German and European Parliament. In this context he had the chance to work on the design and further implementation of the German Renewable Energy Act (EEG). From 2007 until 2014 Mr. Brohm worked for the German Solar Industry Association (BSW-Solar) heading their Governmental Relations and International Affairs department. In this function he developed lobbying and communication strategies as well as industry roadmaps and business model guidelines for the fast growing solar sector in Germany. Further than that, he developed and implemented international policy consulting projects in different world regions in cooperation with national, regional and multilateral development organizations.
In 2014 Mr. Brohm established his own consultancy in Southeast Asia. Based in Hanoi his consulting work mainly focuses on the development of beneficial legal and administrational framework conditions for renewable energies as well as market research in Vietnam and other countries of the region. In 2015 he has conducted an extensive study on the Vietnamese solar market on behalf of the German Development Corporation (GIZ) and the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT). Currently he is exploring investment opportunities for Solar PV rooftop applications in the Vietnamese commercial and industrial sector on behalf of the German Ministry of Economics and Energy. Mr. Brohm studied political science, international relations and business administration in Berlin, Hagen and Amsterdam.
